Givenchy Couture

What a dull and uninteresting world it would be without Haute Couture. We must continue to show our support for the ever dwindling number of designers who create collections for Paris Haute Couture week. It's no wonder fewer designers are creating: these pieces took over 2,000 hours to cut and over 4,000 hours to sew! This season Riccardo Tisci was inspired by Japan, robot toys and dance Kazuo Ohno. Philip Treacy created the hats (inspired by robots) for the show. The collection was quite elegant and stunning, but lacked the color and drama of spring. To view more couture collections at style.com, click here.

This piece is very reminiscent of a
Japanese kimono. The folding at the waste
is similar to the obe belt as are the v cut
neck and strong shoulders. Love the
delicate touch of pink here.

Find your Inner LA Girl with Allison Wonderland's Latest Spring/Summer 2011 Collection

Spring is just around the corner! It may not seem like it, but it's time to start preparing your Spring/Summer wardrobe and Allison Wonderland is the perfect solution.

This season BC designer Allison Smith was inspired by LA's Glamour Girl. The Kwantlen grad has been designing her own Allison Wonderland Line since 1998 and has become renowned for her work throughout North America and Japan. She envisions her glamour girl "zipping through Laurel Canyon in a little white convertible wearing the Laurel Canyon Dress ($188) and big Jackie O sunnies with her scarf blowing in the wind!”

My favorite is the LAX trench ($268), you will look and feel glamorous in early spring when it's still cool in the mornings. Pair it with the fuchsia Ivy Dress, bold scarf and a great pair of ballets and you're ready to go for the day! Before you know it we will be able to put the winter behind us and jump into a fashionable spring wearing Allison Wonderland!

Kristen Stewart on the cover of Vogue Magazine

Kristen Stewart is on the cover of the February issue of Vogue. She is quite stunning, but I feel that the cover and the spread do little for her. Thoughts?

Hermès Fall 2011

Another outstanding collection from Hermès. I love that these are pieces a lot of men would wear or could use as inspiration in their every day looks. A lot of the clothes in the collection could work as separates and there were some fantastic leathers! Thanks to style.com for the photos and updates via twitter. Follow style.com on Twitter here. Men's Wear Paris-Fall 2011

Here are a few of my favorites from the latest Fall 2011 collections shown in Paris. One of my biggest peeves that seemed to appear throughout all of the collections was loose fitting pants. They seemed to hang down almost like drop crotch pants. Now, I am a fan of drop crotch pants, but not in a suit! Men's suits should fit well. Another disappointment was rolled up pant legs. Again, I saw them applied to suits. Perhaps I am too much of a traditionalist when it comes to suits, but usually when a man wears a suit, it's for a special occasion. It should fit well and be flattering. Nevertheless, there were some great pieces presented! I stuck mostly to suits, but there were some great casual pieces especially from Emporio Armani. What did you think of the Men's wear?
