The Bay and Vancouver Fashion Magazine Launch

Written once again by the fantastic Treasure Seeker Colleen, on location in Vancouver!

On October 5, I attended a wonderful fashion event: THE WHITE SPACE at the Bay downtown. This was a collaboration between Vancouver Fashion Magazine and The Bay! The third floor'White Space' is a brilliantly lit white and silver floor of polished runway like aisles and easily accessed designer labels: McQ, Erin Wasson, ADAM (Adam Lippes), Chloe and many more. It's great to see that this beautiful building is being renovated back to the classy store it has always been. Would love to see them put decks off their restaurant and bring back The Teen Fashion Council and The Malt Shop, but for now, the third floor is particularly enticing. Staff Associates were all in the latest styles, including the highest heels and gorgeous jewelry. Chrissy's necklace is Expression, at the Bay and her dress is BCBG (the Bay) and cardigan too. The fashion show, featuring the designs of Adam Lippes and other inspirations, was well attended by very fashion forward customers. Refreshments featuring extraordinary hors d'oeuvres were graciously served by Culinary Capers Catering, music was by DJ Mark Skyline, and a variety of drinks: wine, champagne, Bailey's, coffee, tea and bottled water made the event really celebratory. Rebecca Tay of Vancouver Fashion Magazine mc'd the runway parade by Liz Bell Models. There was definitely a Dior influence of ladylike luxury. All items are available at the Bay and there are lots of sales! Trends for Fall include ruffles, tucks, serious heels, chunky knits, big cardigans (Angora), desert boots, military inspired detailing, buckles, fur, boots. Adam's vision is of the ageless woman who likes to be unique. She is on trend but not trendy, he says. He sees high waist pants and lots of colour for this year. The smile is part of the design. People can live their dreams through fashion. I saw lots of big hair - curls. Suiting is big, too with lots of ruffles on the blouses and lots of grey and prints. The Aviator look is back, with fitted cardigans, tight stretch pants and aviator jackets. Magenta is big as are tights and the highest heels you can find.

This was truly a spectacular evening with prizes: A Dior Gift Basket, a 2 year subscription to Vancouver Fashion Magazine and a $1,000 spending spree at the Bay! As we left, we were handed Bay bags with gifts, too. Thanks and look forward to the next steps. Hopefully not on crutches but on the fancy footware on the second floor at the Bay.
