My apologies for not posting, this week has been very hectic! I often wonder what goes on inside the mind of a designer. This week on Project Runway, designers had to create outfits to be worn by Team USA athletes at the Olympic Games Opening Ceremonies. They visited the National Track and Field Museum for inspiration for their outfits. What some of the designers came up with was quite puzzling! Who in their right minds would wear some of these outfits? A strong athletic woman in a high waisted, short and pleated skirt? Ridiculous! Wait until you see some of their creations this week! I do think that most of the garments are quite stunning, it's just that they did not interpret the challenge correctly. What do you think ??

Suede-Would an Olympic Athlete wear this? It is not practical.

Korto-She won this challenge. While the it looks really sleak, I just cannot see an Olympic Athlete wearing this outfit.

Kenley-Do you see Team USA in this outfit? Where is the red? The plaid looks purple.

Kelli-Eek! While this outfit is inspired by the past, it is not realistic! The bow !

Keith-What can I even say about this? The top is ok, but the skirt is too short !

Joe-While the skirt is a bit short, I thought Joe interpreted this challenge best. I thought this outfit should have won.

Jerell-???? Sportswear????

Jennifer-Sorry Jennifer you're out! She was often criticized for "matronly looking" garments. I'd say this one is just boring and lacking red for Team USA.

Daniel-I love Daniel's work, but he really struggled with this one. The judges were pretty unforgiving, saying that the color looked purple and that it looked like a cocktail dress.

So, was this supposed to be an outfit to wear at the opening ceremonies or something? If it's just to wear whenever, the first one is not bad. However, she was channeling cheerleader and that's a bit insulting to an Olympic athlete.
It seems like they weren't clear on what the purpose for the outfit was supposed to be. If it's just an outfit an athlete could wear, I don't see why they couldn't wear the pantsuit (2nd). Athletes shouldn't be expected to wear athletic wear all the time...
It was for the opening ceremonies! I don't think any of these were really very appropriate :(
No, in that case definitely they are all losers.
That first poufy skirt and the plaid one are incredible!!
Joe's outfit's colour choices look more British or French than American, for some reason.
No I think it looks USA.
