On Friday, October 1 from 7:30 - 9:00, there was a terrific ADHESIF Fashion Show at the JACANA Gallery, 2435 Granville Street, Vancouver. Veronica Plewman's works "Waterways and Inlets: New Landscapes"were fabulous backdrops/settings for designer Melissa Fereira's vintage inspired creations. A 100% local company, "all materials are locally sourced and designs are locally produced". "Vintage fabrics, textiles and second hand clothing is washed, deconstructed and some fabrics like wool and denim are hand-dyed". The ADHESIF production is very much a team effort and last night, Melissa and her design team, Morrismore Models: "Chin Up, Chest Out, Give 'em Hell!", Aaron Morris, Morrismore Productions, Angel Cheng (John Fluevogs) and Jackee Guillou (live music) and Nicole Stewart, Publicist, really worked their magic to put on a dynamic display. The guests were fashion forward and all in spectacular shoes.I especially loved the vests with their beautiful buttons, form fit and detailed patterns and materials. Each is one of a kind and goes well with a informal or formal look. The hair bows and accessories were very 30's as were the chignons and other soft and sophisticated hair styles. The shoes, by John Fluevog were absolutely the best fit for ADHESIF clothing. Little, black lace wrist length gloves and patterned, coloured tights and sheers further complimented the vintage look. Animal prints, tweeds and plaids were worn together for a really different and eye-catching profile. Skirts were fitted, flounced and slightly ballooned, but all very flattering. Lots of tiny back pleats and button details. Walking shorts were business like and again form fitting and something you'd be confident wearing anywhere.
