Last Friday night, September 21, a group of friends and I attended yet another beautifully presented fashion event at The Bay, downtown. At the White Room, second floor, we were welcomed to the Rachel Roy collection and had the opportunity to meet her as well. Usually there are mannequins right down the runway, but these were live models displaying gorgeous, well designed, figure flattering outfits, moving, changing looks and answering questions as they worked. It was a very interactive and refreshingly different way of showing us how we could wear and accessorize these styles. Rachel's jewellery collection was also on display and I like one of her titles: Amulet, and its promise of "...protection and good fortune to all that wear it."
I admire the combination of animal print and solids as well as prints and solids and the vibrant jewel tones, especially the greens and oranges in the dresses and tops. This collection is intricate in design and yet light and soft in both texture and appearance. It was amazing to talk with Rachel and I can see why she is so successful as an artist. She is attentive to each person she meets; she seems to be hearing new stories and creating new fashions as she chats.
PS Very late, afterwards, we rushed down to get our pictures taken with the David Beckam statue! It seems that the world of Fashion is for the very tall, but there is still a place for us!
Thanks Hudsons Bay, thanks Rachel Roy and bye bye to David Beckham who is off to other cities!
An attendees shirt! Everyone was dressed up for the occasion!
Treasure Seeker Colleen and David Beckham!
