Kirsten Dunst in Lucky

I have always been a fan of Kirsten Dunst and I always will be.  I will even admit that my favorite movie with her is Crazy Beautiful, where she plays a troubled teenage girl who meets a focused athlete played by Jay Hernandez.  What a long way she has come.  She doesn't look a day older, and unlike most Hollywood starlets, she looks completely natural.  She is featured on Lucky Magazine's January cover on newsstands December 6th.  For the full article visit Lucky Mag

A few highlights from her interview:

On the item she can’t resist: “It’s Rebecca Taylor: I’m a sucker for a cute dress and I knew I’d be wearing it. I’m the kind of person who buys a new thing, wears it so much and then is totally sick of it. I’ve already worn it two days in a row.”

On being recognized in public: “If you walk in the room and you’re like, ‘Ta da! I’m here!’ and you’re all done up, then yes you’re going to get noticed,” she says. “But if you are normal, then you get recognized a lot less.”

On why she hates red carpet photos: “I hate red-carpet photographs!” says Dunst. “It’s such flat lighting! They take away my cheekbones—I just become a moonface. I hate those photos so much. I always look terrible. And they don’t know angles on faces. There is no artistry to it. I hate them.”

On turning 30: “I thought when I reached 30 I’d have a lot more figured out,” she says. “Until you have a kind, you’re just looking for your partner. And guys have a Peter Pan vibe. They’re 35 and they act like they’re 25. That’s what scares me about being in my 30s: not finding someone to have kids with.”

Jack Germain's latest handbag collection

Love this collection of handbags by Jack Germain!  Here are a few favorites from the Spring/Summer 2012 season.  Love how unique they are.  They're made in unusual shapes and I love that they have a vegan purse (see second image).  Is it Christmas yet?!

The Bette Clutch has a tough side to it with industrial finishing and chunky hardware.  Pair it with chunky boots, skinnies and a big jacket.

Love this Bow Crossbody handbag (above) it's 100 percent vegan and has a detachable strap to make it great for day wear or evening wear.

I've always wanted something fun with fringe! This one is made with enough fringe to make a statement but is not overwhelming.

Colourful Holiday Style In the City Event at Banana Republic

Written by Treasure Seeker Colleen

Here come the holidays at Banana Republic, downtown Vancouver!  Last night, Wednesday, November 23, from 5-9, this decorated gem welcomed us to a shopping party hosted by VitaminDaily.com's Editor in Chief, Sarah Bancroft and bloggers Anya and Kelsey.  Beauty Mark and Essie were there for extra glam, products and new looks for the season.  The toes that peep from the tallest platforms and the fingertips that hold the sparkling envelope bags, must also look their best!  In addition to champagne and appies, there were gifts with purchases and many always friendly, helpful staff to make the experience festive and upbeat.  Music which began early and enhanced the celebration was expertly spun by DJ ANAMUSIC.  Ana is also a busy fashionista, traveller and writer (BWGMAG.org) who invites the room into her musical world.  Banana Republic: Style, Service and Selection!  Thanks for a great start to holiday shopping!

Boutique 1- Designers, Luxury, Art Gallery, Spa and High and Low Pricing At Your Fingertips!

Written by Treasure Seeker Colleen

Love the Boutique 1 site!  Imagine being able to buy the most beautiful women's and men's designer clothing, gowns, accessories, personal care and home decor products. both fabulous and affordable!  The concepts here are luxury and lifestyle and there are 4 flagship stores in the Middle East - think Dubai!  You can view the stores online and this is truly an art gallery experience with exhibits changing monthly.  If you are travelling, of course you can visit for your chauffeur, personal stylist and private fashion shows, but you can also shop online as well as at the outlet store, coming soon.  Alterations are free - now where does that happen?  Electronic gift cards are available and just in time for gift giving.  The sale items are usually half or more off and you get a page of additional accessories and looks you might also like.  You can sort by high or low prices, by designer and by type of clothing or accessory.  As soon as you enter the site, you are transported away from the mundane and into the world of fabulous but accessible fashion.  My picks are: Victoria Beckham Denim jeans - Dipped Charcoal Super Skinny ones for $100 and any of the Victoria Beckham bags and shoes.  A silk fitted cut on the bias dress with pink applique flowers on the silk top and all suggested accessories - especially a pink Druzy Stone Cuff by Isharya are just what I need for the next Art Gallery Fashion event at which I will be making a statement! After seeing "Sex in the City", I wanted Halston and here is a one sleeved Fuchsia Silk that would also be stunning even if I am not a movie star.
For his nibs, there are so many choices.  Since he likes casual and I like to dress it up a bit, we chose the vibrant blue Stone Island Puffer down jacket and V Neck Sweater in black .  Also liked the casual canvas Blazer Jacket with sie zip pockets (sleeker) and removable hood, in navy!  The colours and contours are just terrific.  For added designer dash, how about Giorgio Armani Top Bar Metal Aviator Sunglasses - all the better to see me with!

Comfortable and Fashionable On Line Shopping at Crew Clothing

Written by Treasure Seeker Colleen

This is an easily accessible site for casual clothing and accessories for men and women.  Since I can't get my significant other to a store, we can select together the clothing he loves.  The Sunton Reversible Shirt is a tailored fit of 100% cotton in his favorite blues and reds.  It features the 'must have' pockets and is machine washable.  This is a perfect match to the Crew Men's Jeans which are a slim fit, relaxed over shoes and boots.  Dark and 100% cotton, they are guaranteed to look great.  Two blazers I would add are the Ashton single breasted, 55% cotton and the navy Moleskin which is 100% cotton.  These can dress up any outfit and are well tailored, simple but elegant classics.  I love that most items are reviewed and all that each outfit is accompanied by accessories and other looks you may like, too.  Prices are reasonable and clothing is both current and has colour options.

I enjoyed looking for practical yet fashionable casual and more formal wear that would be perfect for boating events or anywhere else!  Really appreciate that many items are made of cotton for comfort and durability and that the bag I like is 100% leather and purple, to boot!  Choices I made are:  The Foxcote Mac, a chocolate trench with great detailing, a belted waist and metal (not plastic) buttons.  On my shoulder would be the Carrie bag, a roomy taupe or purple leather eye catcher!  The Snowdrop dress is a navy and rose print, very vintage and perfect for those clubhouse gatherings after a breezy, cool winter sail.  Once again, lots of reviews and suggestions for additional looks to complete your wardrobe.   For something different, comfortable, fashionable and affordable, Crew Clothing is a great choice for yourself or for those on your gift list.

Vintage Finds Are the Way to GO!

Love this outfit all courtesy of Mumsey.  All pieces are vintage from Vancouver!  Who would have thought?!  I've been experimenting with all of my different belts lately.  A fun belt is an easy way to complete any look and make it a little more unique.  Vintage belts are easy to find and usually not very expensive!

Speaking of vintage finds! I was interviewed last year for an article on vintage shopping and it has been published.  Check it out here.  Thanks Hafsa Lodi and congrats on your article.

Elie Saab Spring 2012 Ready to Wear Paris

I know it's not spring, and winter presses on and the spring 2012 collections have come and gone, but I refuse to stop showing some of my favorites!  The mere glimpse of hope that winter won't be too long and that spring is just around the corner will get me through the winter.. .

I loved this Elie Saab "Color Shock" collection.  Preparing for the ball has made me become obsessed with all things sequined, long and flowing.  Each gown is more elegant and more colorful than the next.    I'll be thinking of sequins on a rainy day, that's for sure!

Vogue November Issue - "Call in the Cavalry"

Love this spread featuring War Horse's Jeremy Irvine and model Arizona Muse.  The shots are inspired by wartime England as you can see by the simple silhouettes and lines.  My favorite is shot is the last. Stunning!

Celia Birtwell:" The Face That Launched A Thousand Prints"

Written by Treasure Seeker Colleen

This is a beautiful book filled with drawings, fashion sketches and prints by Celia. She and Dominic Lutyens wrote it together.  The flowered print cover design invites you into a garden, constantly changing, ever detailed and always colourful.   Gardens, galleries, home, street fashion and people are sources of inspiration for her prints. First you have to go through the book just to look at it and then secondly to read about her life and career.  The dedication to her grandchildren: "Thank you for keeping me constantly amused and on my toes", tells much about her enjoyment of the lighter side and her 'forever young' philosophy.  Although this book is about her creativity and talent, she talks more about the people who influenced her and the value and fun of collaboration, but you do know when you look at her work, how much came from her, alone.

Drawing and designing outfits from the time she was very young, she said Art School saved her and helped her to meet like minded people.  She credits her family and friends with continuous support along the way. She found lots of heroes along the way: Elvis, David Hockney, Brando, Hailie Selassie, Alain Delon and more.  And herein lies another talent: the ability to see and appreciate the talent in others.   She was always working, from waitressing to designing wigs and dresses for the theatre.  She is constantly working and learning!  All of what she sees, in gardens, in galleries and on the screen are adapted for every day wear. She looks not only at her own culture but also around the world.  Her designs reflect the past, present and future.  She is credited with the invention of the midi skirt for the Bonnie and Clyde look.  She designed with paper and other unique materials.  She painted on material, embroidered on it and tie dyed it.   Although her prints were worn at first by the rich and famous stars of the 60's and 70's, they are loved by many and wearable by all. She and her former husband, designer Ossie Clark were a fabulous design team but she has continued on her own to develop and expand her designs.  In fact, she designed a line of clothing for Topshop and her collection sold out immediately.  She has an online shop that features vintage fashion, fabrics and accessories and will always create more.  In 2011 she was awarded the CBE for her services to the British Fashion Industry.  This is a book of Art as well as a great read and I highly recommend it.

Lisa - Hairdresser/Stylist/Artist

Written by Treasure Seeker Colleen

Lisa of Natural Solutions (Eaton Centre) has my curly hair but hers is expertly styled and has the right kind of curls - you know those golden locks that gracefully touch the forehead, touch the face gently and fold cunningly into the neck, just so.  She knows curly hair and how to tame it, believe me!  It's all in the cut, she says but it's also in the blow drying with a round brush, a section at a time.  Just a few hot presses with the straightener and voila, it's a perfectly round, shiny bob.  Even the bangs are obedient, lying flat against the brow.  Lisa has always been passionate about style and has her own blog about how to tame those tresses and more.  I wore my new cut (without a hat) to Toronto Fashion Week and got a lot of questions about the sensational look and who was the scissor queen?  Now you know!
