Burger Queen in Yonago

A final Yonago post! Time has flown by here. I am leaving this Saturday evening for Okayama. It will be wonderful to get back to my "home" with all my friends and the city! I really really have missed it and while I love the country...for me, it's only a place I like to go for vacations or short periods of time :) Nevertheless I hit up the famous burger place in Yonago called Burger Queen. I had the MC Burger that had cheese, lettuce, tomato and onions...YUM! The set came with corn soup, delicous fries and a drink. The cafe was really quite cute and the owner was friendly and spoke good English. A great way to end a very interesting adventure in Yonago!

Menu in English...PHEW!

Menu in Japanese!
Yum Yum!
That evening I took the new teacher and our co-worker for dinner at this Italian restaurant in Yonago. We ordered a three person set which included: two pizzas, a pasta dish, three appetizers, three drinks and three deserts! All for about sixteen dollars each!!!! What a steal. Here are some pictures of the desserts. Yummy!

I can't believe how quickly my time in Japan has gone. In three weeks I will be heading to France for three weeks to work on a volunteer project. If anyone has any suggestions for Paris or would like to get together for a bloggers meeting, please email me! I will be returning to Canada in late August and moving to Toronto. I can't wait to get back into fashion and school again! One thing I will definitely miss in Japan is the food! Everything is presented so beautifully and the service and people are so wonderful. It has been a great adventure here....but it's not over yet! 29 days to go!!

Contest Win From Bloggers' Night At The Bay

Written by Treasure Seeker Colleen

Thanks to The Bay for the prize of $150 to spend on clothing, shoes, purses or jewelry at the downtown store! (See winning blog post here) I was Carrie for a few hours as I rode the escalator between main, second and third floors. (Think flying to Manhattan or other exotic destinations!)Got my first leggings, white and grey (Mex) and a silky over blouse (BCBG) with yellow, grey, navy and white tones. Very summery and easy to mix and match. Accessories are mine: Silver necklace with circles, The Bay, others miscellaneous. Grey flats at Winners, Black heels by Balenciaga, Paris but found in Japan. It was a great experience to shop in a cool store that is undergoing lots of redecorating and resdesigning. Sales staff are friendly and helpful. First place to wear the outfit? Why to see Coco Channel and Igor Stravinsky at the movies this weekend!

Loop [s] Recycle Shop in Yonago

Another recycle shop adventure! I heard about this recycle shop while I was in the shopping district in Yonago and thought I could find it on my own! Well it was certainly out in the middle of nowhere. I went with a friend and we realized we were not finding it. I got directions from a random passerby who said the trip was about a half hour walk one way! We got the directions and I convinced my friend it was worth the walk and we were on our way. After only about fifteen minutes of walking, the lady we had asked for directions drove by and offered to take us there! Lucky for us she had a gps (as everyone does in Japan) in her car! She took us right to the door of this great shop! I figured she might come in and see what all the fuss was about, but no, she just dropped us off!

The store consists mostly of men's clothes, but there are a few women's things. They have a lot of American pieces and some vintage Gucci, Louis Vuitton, etc. It's in a warehouse though and really quite hot, with no air conditioning! I didn't end up buying anything, but my friend managed to get a few tops which at least justified our trip! Here are a few pictures and you can visit the website here!

Cafes and Shopping in Yonago!

Continuing on with my sightseeing tour of Yonago. A friend took me to the shopping area of Yonago after my sailing trip on the weekend! There are some great stores here in Yonago. Who would have guessed! Here some images. Shortly after we went to a great bakery for some bagels and then to a fabulous cafe! Yonago has so much to offer, it really is a great city. I only have two weeks left until I leave for Okayama :) I can't wait see my friends! It will be three weeks after that when I leave for France. It's official. I will be volunteering on a restoration project for three weeks before returning to Vancouver for a week visit and on to Toronto. I have been accepted to the MA Program in Media Studies. It's going to be an eventful fun filled summer and I can't wait for it to all start!!!!

The store was having a meet and greet
event. They served us ginger muffins and
iced coffee and tea. FUN!

The entrance to the store.

A very European looking bakery.

The amazing cafe we went to! The owner

Sailing on the Sea of Japan in Yonago (Sakaiminato)!

Last weekend I was privileged enough to be able to go on a sailing adventure on the Japan Sea! One of my co-workers races and I went with her and her racing friends for a day sail! We left from Sakaiminato and sailed around the Yonago area. The weather held out for us and we even saw some sun! The wind was strong and we had a great sail! The forecast called for thunder showers and we were lucky enough to see them after we had finished for the day. Close call! I started sailing at a young age and continued right through to my twenties. I haven't sailed for a good two years and it was great to get out on the water again. I am starting to realize that I am going to need to eventually end up living somewhere near the water. Once I move to Toronto I plan on joining a sailing club to polish up my skills so that I can run a boat on my own! FUN! This post comes at the perfect time. Father's Day was just yesterday. It was my Dad who introduced me to the sport of sailing! Thanks Dad for being the greatest ever :)
