Vancouver Fashion Week-Press Release and Opening Gala

Last night marked the opening of Vancouver Fashion Week! I went to the press release and opening gala at Birk's in Vancouver. The location had an old world glamor, yet chic vibe to it. Mayor Sam Sullivan gave a short speech about putting Vancouver on the map with Vancouver Fashion Week and introduced some of the International buyers who were attending our week of fashion fun. Shortly after, Tara Parker Tait (vitaminv) and Steven Schelling presented a sneak peak of the collections we would see this week. There was a great mix of evening wear and casual wear as the models cascaded down the elegant staircase and the photographers went crazy. Some of the designers whose pieces were shown were: Karen Wu, Lav & Kush, Barbara Gregusova, Parasuco, Ecko Red, Christopher Bates and Proscia Yeganeh.

Today is the first day of shows and I can hardly contain my excitement. Designers presenting are as follows: Cheri Milane, Papillon and Hirad.
