INTERNATIONAL FASHION GALA, by DAVID CHEN (IPOP CANADA) The Painted Wedding Dress Train by Joseph Boutros Ghabi

I have really enjoyed all of the 9 International Fashion Galas because each is different and each features Fashion, Art, Performance and Music. Held at The Vancouver Club, twice a year, the setting is special and the well arranged seating, makes it easy to see the runway. There is always a warm welcome, this time by David and by Myriam Callot, who was modelling a gorgeous formal gown by Designer, Dori Willett Szabo, who creates Paris Vogue Apparel. My friend, Illustrator Forest Tomlin, made the evening even more memorable by sketching so many of the fashions as well as many of the audience, who do dress up for this event. You can see some of the reels I made on my Instagram

Here is the complete list of Designers, Artists and Performers, as listed in the outstanding booklet/brochure for International Fashion Gala. Thanks to the many Photographers and Artists and Designers contributed to the brochure. I especially love the Underwater Fashion Photography by Nina Pak, that highlights a model we know well, Miss Jacqueline Ryan and jewelry designer Carolyn Bruce.

Fashion Gala Program:

Floral Arrangement: David Chen, accompanied by Sofy Chen on piano

Little Princess Gown, by Parvaneh Shirvani Beni

Silk Orchid Attire by Jaspreet Mann

Martial Arts by Jerry Yu

Carmen Body Art/ Artist Carmen Prosper

Paris Vogue Apparel by Dori Willett Szabo

Agape Divine Art by Artist Joseph Boutros Ghabi

A very creative and captivating performance was by Artist Joseph Boutros Ghabi, as he took his shoes off, gathered he brushes, unfurled a long wedding dress train and painted it with hearts and colours. This was reattached to the dress and the 'bride' walked down the aisle so we could appreciate the Art walk. There was soft music but the audience was rapt until the end when they applauded and stood up in honour of this Art and Fashion performance. The couture wedding gown was from the collection of Paris Vogue Apparel by Dori Willett Szabo. My photos give just a glimpse of the magic!

Thank you for inviting me to International Fashion Gala, David and many thanks to your superb team!

Thank you so much Colleen for your great review about the last International Fashion Gala. and for your beautiful pictures…so special to see Joseph Boutros Agape painting for his first time on fabric ! Unique experience as an artist and in front of an audience witnessing the full process and admiring the result on the train! The selected wedding gown dress with a detachable train was from Dori Willet Szabo …with a stunning fabric which retained the name of Rose … A perfect one! Thank you so much for all your support! Always a great pleasure to spending time with you, Myriam
