Bizarre Bazaar Press Release
After a two-year Covid hiatus, the always popular Bizarre Bazaar is back.
Hosted by the Society for the Museum of Original Costume (SMOC), Bizarre Bazaar is Vancouver’s most-anticipated vintage fashion sale and will be taking place on Sunday April 3rd at Heritage Hall (3102 Main Street). General Admission ($7) is at 11am; Early Bird ($12) is at 10 am, for those who can’t wait to get a first look. Tickets at the door. All proceeds from the sale go to support SMOC’s programming and collections.
Bizarre Bazaar offers a broad range of vintage with an emphasis on fashion and fashion accessories but also housewares, various oddments and costume-related books. With fashion items dating from every decade of the century, the sale will appeal to both the serious collector as well as anyone interested in vintage for sustainability reasons or just to add something unique to their wardrobe. Many of the vendors are private collectors who do only this one sale so there will be some exceptional treasures on offer.
Please note that, although most vendors accept credit/debit cards, cash sales are welcomed.
Besides the vendors, Bizarre Bazaar offers two additional special features. The renowned fashion historian, Ivan Sayers, will be present to answer your historic fashion questions. He can identify and explain any curious fashion item that may be in your possession or give an approximate date to old family photos based on the clothing being worn.
As well, Bizarre Bazaar will feature a display of glamorous eveningwear from Ivan Sayers’s private collection – pieces that you will not likely see anywhere else.
The event will adhere to all relevant COVID restrictions, include vaccine passports and masks.
