Shimmer, Gold and Glamour!

I've been having a hay day at Zara as of late!  Perhaps it's because now the wedding is over and I have some spending cash back!  Zara has fantastic sales right now as they are clearing out their winter stock. I am avoiding anything black and going for everything color.  Found this cute gold top and fab gold ballet flats and put together a smashing work look.  I get so tired of boring blacks, pencil skirts and simple blouses.  Sometimes..you just need a little sparkle in your life!  These ballets remind me of my skating days and had me prancing around the apartment in no time.  I am still getting used to the red hair and I feel like it has given me a whole new outlook on life.  Life's too short, live it up, pursue your dreams and don't ever let anyone tell you you can't do something.  Oh and DANCE!

SAG Award Favorites

Hate to sound like a broken record, but I am really focusing on all things color! Here are my favorite looks from the SAG awards this evening.  Lots of whites and cremes and some very vivid hughes too! The bright colors give the actresses a glow and really accentuate their gorgeous figures. I guess I never realized how harsh black really can be.  I was disappointed to see the beautiful Emma Stone in black and am getting truly tired of Angelina's boring old blacks.  See my favorites below!

Comme des Garcons Reinterpreted by Kamila Maslowskato in Another Magazine

For her "White Drama" collection for Comme des Garcons Spring/Summer 2012, Rei Kawakubo designed entirely in white for the very first time.  Check out this reinterpretation by upcoming artist Kamila Maslowskato. She says "the different shades of white in the collection inspired [her] to animate the flowers so that they move in a way which created different tones and shadows."  Thanks Another Mag for this great animation!

A good snowy Saturday in song!  "Madness" by Zee Avi sounds very Ella Fitzgerald inspired.  Love the playful and easy going feel to it! 

Going Red with the Llisa Spidle at P & H Salon

Big changes this week!  My fabulous hair stylist Llisa Spidle invited me to the brand new P and H salon on King Street to play with color.  We originally were going to go for caramel streaks, but at the last minute decided to go all red!  I hadn't dyed my hair in a really long time, so she assured me she would create a natural look that wouldn't be too drastic.  She did a fantastic job and I am extremely happy with the color!  Have a look at the fabulous salon and the before and after looks!  Check out Llisa's fantastic blog at Get Hair Done.

Rent Frock Repeat Photo Shoot!

I had the privilege of working with fantastic photographer Nicole, Anne Cayer and the amazing ladies at Rent Frock Repeat the other night.  We modeled dresses, skipped around the building and had a blast trying on many different designer gowns.  Every girl's dream come true!  Lisa and Kristy rent designer gowns for special occasions.  Why buy a hugely expensive designer dress that you will wear once, when you can rent it! Love their motto:

Cool Valentine's Gifts for Him!

I have no idea what I am going to get that man of mine for Valentine's this year!  He has his own style, taste and interests.  Mind you, I am visiting California with him in February, so perhaps that's enough!  For those of you who are as confused as I am, here are some cool ideas for the special man in your life.  What are you getting for your special someone?

A Very Audrey Sunday

Who doesn't love Sundays?  Yesterday I went to the Paddington Pump at the St. Lawrence Market for breakfast with a very good friend.  It's the best place for a delicious Sunday morning fry up!  Afterwards, I did a bit of shopping and picked up a few great pieces.  The sales are great right now as they are still clearing out the winter and Christmas stock. I picked up a fantastic bright green sweater from Zara and some super cute heels for the office.  I'm still aggressively adding color to my wardrobe and this is the perfect weekend piece.  Turtlenecks aren't easy to pull off, but I am always drawn to them.  They are comforting, warm and can be great with a pair of skinnies (see below).  My friend Anthea also gave me this very beautiful family heirloom necklace as a wedding gift. I love it so much, I don't want to wear it!  I felt very Audrey yesterday as I cooked up a glorious one pot dinner and baked chocolate chip banana muffins.  The perfect end to a wonderful Sunday.  Now, here comes Monday...

Outdoor Wear is Stylish with Comune

Sure I will go outdoors now and then, but every time I need winter wear, I am always disappointed with the selection!  Winter wear does not have to be ugly.   Love this shoot and video done by Comune for their Autumn/Winter 2012 Collection.  The line focuses on subtle and smart details inspired by the natural palate found in the forests, mountains and deserts of California.  All of the colors compliment each other and create a feeling of harmony throughout the entire collection.  Materials consist of heavy brushed flannels, clean striped henleys and hunting influenced fleece.  Funny, they recommend their outerwear for hiking in the San Bernadino mountains.  I was just there in December!  Outdoor wear definitely made fashionable.  Love!
