Art of Fashion in Toronto

Last Saturday October 1 was the 13th annual Art of Fashion Event held at the Pantages Hotel in Toronto during the annual Nuit Blanche event. Ten designers were selected to display their work in exhibit style. The winner receives media coverage, look book photo shoot and design, public relations campaign, gift cards and a membership to Fashion Group International. The awards total to over $35, 000! David Dixon was present as a judge as well as Pencil's Creative Director Pheinixx and Fashion Group International's Lynda Jagros Mae.

The designers were spectacular and incredibly warm and willing to speak about their designs. I have selected a few images of my favorite pieces. Unfortunately the venue seemed small and the amount of guests made it extremely crowded, but it was fun nonetheless! I only wish the designers had a better web presence. I really feel that designers have to be better connected online to be successful. A blog is enough to get started, but a website is an investment that will provide viewers with a place to find more information and past and current collections. Support Canadian design!
