Project Runway - Episode 13

I can't believe that Jerell went home this week! I really thought he would be part of the final three to show at Bryant Park. After last week's challenge, the designers were sent home with a budget of 8, 000 dollars to create a potential collection for Bryant Park. They had to design a wedding dress (presented this week) that would represent their collection and themselves as designers.

Tim Gunn visited each of them in their design spaces at home and previewed the collections they had worked so hard on. It is always interesting to see where they live, their families, and their design inspirations. Leanne actually took Tim on a two person bicycle ride, which was quite amusing!

The designers then all came back to New York to present their wedding dresses as a taste of what they would be showing in their complete collections. Once all of the designers arrived back in New York at their hotel, they were given champagne and told to enjoy themselves and take a break. It's a good thing they did because the next day they were told that they had to create bridesmaid dresses to accompany their wedding dresses! All of the dresses turned out fairly well, even with the time constraint. Leanne's collection wowed me the most! The images are not great but you can get the general idea. One question for you : Why oh why do designers have such a difficult time creating simple, yet sophisticated bridesmaid dresses??

Her collection was inspired by the waves of the ocean. I thought hers was executed beautifully.

Her dresses actually were inspiring and they were not prints!! The wedding dress was fun and flirty. The bridesmaid dress was a bit to bubbly for me but it suited her theme. Kenley was actually bearable this week. I think she smartened up, but she is still arrogant and overly confident. These pieces are well done but I don't think she stands a chance against Leanne!

I really thought she would be out after her dresses went down the runway. Her wedding dress was over embellished and did not look like a wedding dress. Her bridesmaid dress was the same color and too simple!! Nevertheless, she was safe and her full collection is actually quite stunning.

I was sad to see Jerell go this week. While his wedding dress was over embellished as well, I don't think he should have gone home. His work has been solid throughout the whole competition. I do agree with Michael Kors that it looks like she has a flower pot growing out of her head!
