Project Runway is BACK for Season Five!

Project Runway is finally here! It is just as good as the previous seasons. Sixteen designers battle it out with new challenges each week. For this week's challenge designers had to make clothes out of materials found in the grocery store Gristedes (New York). They were given a budget of $75 and 30 minutes to find what they needed. I think that Tim Gunn and the judges were shocked at how many designers chose table cloths. The garments were well done, but there wasn't really any WOW factor.

The designers

The Judges
(Austin Scarlett, Nina Garcia, Michael Kors, and Heidi Klum)

Kelli-This is the winning dress. It is made of vacuum cleaner bags and coffee filters. While it is pretty, it is not WOW for me.

Daniel-I think this dress should have won. It is made with plastic cups! Daniel chose one of the most difficult materials and he executed his idea brilliantly.

Korto-While this dress is a table cloth, she used fresh produce to create the neckline. Quite stunning.

Joe-He used spaghetti for the skirt, and the top is an oven mitt! It was very different and innovative. The colors are great as well.

Kenley-Made her dress out of a dodge ball and lawn chair. The colors are magnificent and vibrant.

Which look do you think should have won? Stay tuned for "what were they thinking?" Project Runway is hosted by Bravo TV. They have a lot of great information about Project Runway, the designers, judges and behind the scenes. Visit their site here.

I would have went for the last one myself...

I can't help feeling a little like they've cast people just to fit the Project Runway stereotypes this year. It makes it a little less fun, but I'm sure I'll be hooked within a few episodes.

I think they are all winners. this type of assignment makes them think creatively, and these four designs are certainly creative. (and cute too).
