ART! VANCOUVER - World Art Show Comes to Vancouver!

Four days of Art Exhibits (ART Vancouver) and runway shows lit up the Vancouver Convention Centre at the Fairmont Waterfront, May 21-24th.  This was the first International Art Fair of its kind, here, and we hope for more to come.

Lisa Wayrynen, Director, thanked corporate and cultural supporters: DeSerres, The Vancouver Art Gallery and UBC as well as many others.  Her goal was to: "promote galleries and emerging and established artists from across Canada, the USA, South America, Europe and South East Asia.  I counted more than 135 artists, 90 booths, and an installation art area.  There was also a Speakers Series: The Art of Galleris, Gallery Fame and Fortune, Creation for all Ages, Old Techniques, New Ways, Invest in Canadian Art, Bliss and the Working Artists, Design Your Life Masterpiece and The Art of Framing.

A really unique feature of this event was the runways shows: artists carried their canvas down the red carpet.  Many dressed up and all walked with 'attitude': strength, passion, humor and joy were very evident to a very crowded, standing room only stage surround.

Artist Anne Gudrun carries her beautiful panels, (there are 3 in this series) assisted by Lynn Katey, peaking out at us.  Anne's Essence Art (TM) "brings the beauty of Art to the world through nature."  An artist, teacher and gallery owner, Anne keeps us up to date by a fabulous newsletter.  More about her at www.annegudrun.com/art

PS.  Huge thanks for the invitation and tickets to attend, Anne!

As this was the first time for this wonderful array of Art and events, I would like congratulate Artists and Organizers for the Art runway concept.  Would love to have had a list of participants and websites beforehand, though, for research in advance and for being able to accurately label runway photos.  Next time, for sure!

Kudos ART! Vancouver!
