Book Review: Style Me Vintage Weddings: An Inspirational Guide To Styling The Perfect Vintage Wedding.

Written by Colleen Tsoukalas (Treasure Seeker Colleen)

"Style Me Vintage",  is a sturdy, neat little book with gorgeous photographs and complete details for planning a wedding set from 1900-1970's.  Specific eras are: 1920, 30, 40, 50, 60 and 1970 and resonate totally with our eclectic present day fashions of 2013.  Anabelle Beeforth is an author and noted blogger of Love My Dress, a U.K. Wedding Blog "voted one of the top five wedding blogs in the world by Elle magazine."  This is an extensively researched collection of rsources that includes: Labels, Suppliers, Accessories, Shoes, Props and Styling, Entertainment, Stationery, Blogs/Online Reading and Film.  There are many international sources as well as U.K. ones.

"Style Me Vintage" will be released, April 2013 by Chicago Review Press, so it is brand new and has a fresh, new approach.  It begins with a questionnaire to establish your style and the best era and look for you.  However, you could easily choose what you love from each era, especially if you follow the: "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue" adage.  The photographs and the "Real Bride" stories throughout the book, inspire you to find your own style and design your own day with lots of support.  The 'Real Brides' describe: Dress, Accessories, Shoes, Inspiration, Favorite feature of the dress, and Wedding decor and details.  Settings, cards, cakes, ideas for photographs - every detail is photographed for you.  This is not a huge, coffee table book; it is a working manual, full of practical, locatable styles and accessories.  When I chose my wedding dress, I began with the fabric and had no idea of the whys or hows or strategies for integrating the look with the entire party and day.

Annabel answers the question: Why Wear Vintage?, clearly and thoroughly.  She begins with wise words from Yves Saint Laurent: "Fashions fade, style is eternal..." Perhaps the most important part of this gem of a wedding resource is that she details her own beautiful vintage wedding.  This would be a memorable gift for an engagement announcement or from parent to daughter or son or friend to friend.  The cultural references: movies, movie stars, music, colors, literature, foods, trends - these are all wonderful ideas for showers or pre event parties.

"Style Me Vintage" a book well worth reading and sharing!
