Treasure Hunting for Fabric in Vancouver

Written by Colleen Tsoukalas (Treasure Seeker Colleen)

As a treasure hunter, I love to visit Designer Fabrics at 150 W. Hastings, where you'll find, "Chic Fabrics at wholessale prices".  (atexfabrics.com)  There is always a great window display that invites you in and once you're there, you'll be dazzled by the variety of silks, chiffons, cottons, lace and much more.  Zings of color pull you to each shelf and of course, the textures must be touched.  Where are the white gloves?  This is a jewel of a store, an art gallery of fabulous finds.  Helpful, knowledgeable staff are very willing to find and cut whatever your heart desires.  Prices are extremely reasonable.  The only request I have is that Designer Fabrics be on the runway at Eco Fashion Week, next week at Robson Square.  I can imagine fabric wraps, burlap covered fancy chairs, (there's one in the window display) and banners -veritable riots of color and style.  These prints also remind me of Celia Birtwell's beautiful book.  Go Designer Fabrics!
