THE PENELOPE RESTAURANT -225 KING ST. WEST

Written by Colleen Tsoukalas (Treasure Seeker Colleen)

Had an hour between shows yesterday and was attracted to the bright blue and white entrance and sunny patio of THE PENELOPE, a spacious Greek restaurant right next to Fashion Week.  A gorgeous bar area affords you a street view of shoppers and fashionistas.  The huge, bright eating areas are surrounded by urns, mosaics and pillars that place you right in the middle of temples that you can easily find, today, almost the moment you land in Athens.  Everything shiny and spotless and linen tablecloths and napkins! Yes!  Friendly and efficient service.  Lovely, generous portions.  I had the Avgo Lemono Soup (Chicken, rice, lemon) and pita and dip.  All hot and traditional recipes.  A glass of Retsina and then I wanted to turn up the music and dance.  Everyone here has a story and the first question for me was: Where are you from?  After a few conversations about home towns, music and film, I was off, a block away from fabulous Greek hospitality and into the rush and crush of Fashion Week.  You should go!  Opa! Visit their website at Penelope Restaurant.
