New York Fashion Week Fall 2010 Part 3

Here is part three of my New York Fashion Week favorites. Right now London Fashion Week is in full swing and is as exciting as ever. By the way if you haven't had a chance, do take a look at Bonnie Fuller's new gossip website Hollywoodlife.com.

Oscar de la Renta

I have always and will always love Oscar. This year though, his collection was a little shall we say mature? The pieces featured fur embellishments and trims in the wrong places and some of the suits and patterns just didn't do it for me. Don't get me wrong, the clothes were stunning, they just weren't as fantastic as they were last season. Does anyone else agree? Nevertheless there were some phenomenal gowns, sparing no expense on beadwork, trims and embellishments as well as some strong day wear pieces.

Marc by Marc Jacobs

This season I wasn't a huge fan of the Marc Jacobs collection. I found it too stiff and serious for some reason. I did love the Marc by Marc collection though. I still found it a little bit simple but it is a marketable collection, which right now, is key. Everything in the Marc by Mar c collection always has a bit of a stronger edge to it. Loved the slouchy pants that are so huge again on the runway this season.

L.AM.B.

Due to the blizzard this year, half of Gwen Stefani's collection was held up in transit. Forcing her to think on her feet and pull a runway show together last minute with what she could. It was a strong one of “vintage, boudoir, military, fifties, sexy and futuristic.” I was not a huge fan of the make up but overall, it was what have come to expect from Gwen, punky and playful clothes.

Isaac Mizrahi

Isaac's theme this year was purely “great clothes.” He did however, find inspiration in camping. EEK! Never fear, if this is camping, we need to introduce it in Vancouver! Where parkas lulu lemon and yoga wear are most popular. Coats, separates, hoods and furs. Ah Isaac why can't you come to Vancouver?

Halston

As new designer of the Halston brand, Marios Schwab explored a variety of themes in his latest collection, including the set of the Fay Dunaway's Eyes of Laura Mars. The first few pieces were quite strong and were futuristic but as I continued flipping through the looks, I was baffled by some of the color choices and cuts. I was left confused and unsure what to think about the collection. Perhaps we will have to wait until next year to see where the designer takes the label. Designer Jacqueline Rabun created the silver accessories for the collection.

Max Azria

Lubov and Max Azria's collection consisted of strong but simple lines in bold colors. The prints were minimal and the cuts were sleek and looked like they flowed elegantly down the runway.

Marchesa

This collection was inspired by performer and courtesan Lola Montez. The collection as always is more centered around red carpet looks. The looks featured tulle and many embellishments that were a little more unusual. Here are a few favorites. The red is a bit bright but I loved the design.

Lela Rose

Lela Rose said she was inspired by the Galapagos islands and “exploring the different textures observed in the universe,” when interviewed by style.com. Belted tunic dresses and flowing skirts and blouses were the highlights of this collection.

Diane von Furstenberg

I have always been a big fan of Diane Von Furstenburg. She seems to have this ability to know and understand what women want to wear. Everything we would want to wear is included in this collection. The runway looked spectacular as did all of the models in a wide variety of looks. There were party dresses, separates, skirts, jackets and more. This collection marked the last for her right hand man Nathan Jenden who will be starting his own line.

Elie Tahari

Great separates, jackets and furs! Loved all of the slouchy pants. A smart collection of separates for both night and day.
