A Few Favorites: New York Fashion Week Fall 2010 Part 1

Sorry for the fashion week coverage delay. There have been a lot of exciting developments coming out of New York Fashion Week this year, especially all the talk in the media and the blogger conferences! It's nice to see bloggers getting some much deserved recognition! Here are a few favorites from the week!

Prabal Gurung

A geometric and futuristic looking collection no doubt. This season Prabal Gurung continued to push the envelope. The contrasting colors and sharp lines were dramatic and bold. Perhaps not to everyone's taste, but a stunning collection nonetheless. Don't you love the red jacket?!

Rag & Bone

This was the first year that David Neville and Marcus Wainwright decided to show their women's collection separately. The pieces were inspired “by those crazy English guys who climbed Mount Everest in the twenties in tweed” as reported by style.com's Nicole Phelps. Now this was layering done the best! Loved the way everything worked together and was cohesive. I wanted every piece. This season was all about layering, plaids and prints. Layering is huge in Japan. These looks would sell out instantly here!

United Bamboo

This collection was inspired by pilot Amelia Earheart for designers Miho Aoki and Thuy Pham. They said this year's collection was "a tribute to a fearless, adventurous woman." The collection consisted of a mix of jackets and skirts and many of the looks featured bows placed just so. Check out the fantastic skirts below!

Vivienne Tam

I really enjoyed this collection. This year Vivienne Tam's theme was Chinese New Year animals. The shape and cut of all the pieces was unique and well executed. There were definitely some great suits and separates as well.

Yigal Azrouel

This was a fantastic collection! Loved the sharp but elegant lines. There was a fantastic mix of both separates and evening wear looks. Bravo!
