Project Runway-Episode 8

Project Runway Season Five is slowly beginning to pick up momentum! This week the designers had the opportunity to create a look inspired by the magnificent Diane von Furstenberg's Fall 2008 collection. The winning outfit will be sold exclusively to American Express cardholders with partial proceeds going to the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America). Her inspiration for this collection was the 1948 film A Foreign Affair with Marlene Dietrich. The designers actually got to choose their fabrics from Diane's very own sample fabric room were limited to a total of ten yards. The pressure is mounting with the drama sure to follow, I can't wait! Finally ! :)

Terri
They really beat Stella up about the fit of her pants. Look at the fit here, it's terrible! The overall look is ok but rather bland and simple. The print she used to make the top is fireworks. I don't think I woud wear it. Would you?

Suede
More issues with fitting this week for all of the designers. This model is pin thin and yet the dress makes her look wide in the hips. Michael Kors stated that the jacket paired with the dress would make one question if the model got dressed in the dark! Eek!

Stella
Stella got the boot this week :( She sort of grew on me, I was sad to see her leave the show. I think the idea was right, but the judges could not look past the issues with fit. Sorry Stella you're out!

Leanne
Leanne wins again! The dress was quite stunning. I wouldn't wear the jacket as it looks a bit bulky, but the overall look was dead on. Congrats Leanne!
PS Check out Dreamecho's post about Leanimal!

Korto
The print is stunning as is the jacket. Korto is a serious contender.

Kenley
I am bored with Kenley's prints. I am bored with her looks, they are all starting to look the same. The judges of course all fawn over her work, but the shoulders do not look right to me. Perhaps it's just because she is so annoying that I am beginning to hate her work? She is extremely arrogant and whiny. Is it just me? I thought she was really cheeky to the judges when she was explaining her look, and Heidi did not seem impressed. You do NOT want to mess with Heidi !!

Joe
Joe, Joe, Joe. The idea was right, but I agree with the judges. It looked home made! The blouse had a large cut out at the back and looked ill fitting and tacky.

Jerell
Jerell continues to produce solid and elegant designs. The only thing I don't like is the bright blue belt. It just doesn't seem to work with the colors of the blouse.

Blayne
Something of Blayne's I actually like! I am not a huge fan of "genie" pants but this looks great. The jacket fits perfectly as well. Congrats to Blayne for creating something that wasn't totally off the wall :)

Terri *yawn*

Blayne's design was surprising; it wasn't barfilicious.

Joe's Asian-inspired top is wrong in so many ways. the fact that he used "Asian-inspired" offended an entire continent. and what was up with his shoddy craftsmanship? does he know that the judges aren't blind?

Stelllllaaaa! no leatha, no luck.

Korto's been a bridesmaid the last few weeks with all those top 3 finishes but no wins. she's consistently good. i enjoy her taste and style. i'm also glad to see Leanne's confidence building. we got some competin', finally!
