Jane Birkin Guest Designer for Lutz & Patmos

New York based Designers Tina Lutz and Marcia Patmos have announced Jane Birkin as guest designer for their knitwear company Lutz and Patmos. The label features a full collection of sweaters, knits and accessories made with 100% environmentally friendly wools and alpaca yarns from Uruguay. Previous guest designers for their label include: Kirsten Dunst, Richard Meier, Julianne Moore, Liv Tyler, L'Wren Scott, Carine Roitfeld and Sofia Coppola.

Tina Lutz graduated from Esmod in Paris Fashion Design and Pattern Making and Marcia Patmos graduated from Rhode Island School of Design in Apparel Design. They play an active role in Al Gore's Climate Project and are the U.S. ambassadors for the High End Trade Show during New York Fashion Week. You can find Lutz and Patmos pieces at Misch and Bacci's Clothing, both located on South Granville. Their Spring 2009 collection will officially be released at New York Fashion Week in September. Here is their Fall 2008 Collection:

Jane Birkin is an English actress, singer and song writer. In the sixties she had roles in Blowup, Slogan and Je t'aime...moi non plus and released the albums Baby Alone in Babylone, Amours des Feintes and Lolita Go Home. The Birkin Hermes bag was famously named after her in 1981 when the head of Hermes saw her struggling with her luggage bags while trying to board a plane. Here are some images:

This is exciting--I adore Jane Birkin! Her daughter, Charlotte Gainsbourg has recently inherited her mother's fashion icon status.

This is such an incredible family -- it seems impossible that so much beauty and genius could be concentrated among such a small little clan!
