Are you tired of my New Year's Resolutions reminders? Too bad! I haven't achieved my workout goal every week, but I have been making a conscious effort to work out at least three times a week, even with my hectic schedule. I discovered that the reason I wasn't working out was because I was bored with the same old routine.
I've been practicing Ashtanga yoga for 3 years and always thought it would be the yoga I would always practice. I love the rhythmic breathing and methodical structure of every class. Recently though, I found it monotonous and boring as I always know what pose is coming next. So I've been attending different types of yoga classes at my yoga studio and also more advanced classes that are smaller and force me to push myself a bit more. I've also started taking some hot yoga classes and best of all - Barreworks!!
I have always enjoyed rhythm and dance and with my figure skating background, have a decent understanding of the positions, postures, etc. My friend recently joined Barreworks and so I decided to try a few drop in classes. I have really been enjoying it! It's a good mix of cardio, dance, stretching, core work and yoga. The music and instructors are fabulous too!
So the moral of this story? If you're not working out as much, you're either bored or not motivated, so change it up and try something new! Visit the Barreworks website here and their motivating Facebook page here.
