Kimberly Newport-Mimran designs uniforms for HOLT, Porter Airlines and New York's 60 Thompson Hotel, in addition to her other collections, popular everywhere. I first saw the HOLT uniforms in the video shown at the HOLT event and remember when unforms were mandatory if you worked for Woodward's or The Bay in Vancouver. Even if you worked in smaller dress stores, you were required to wear a little black dress. Of course, Newport-Mimran's uniforms are much more colourful and stylish than any I have seen.
For this collection, all of the models wore updo's and looked business like yet classic. Over the knee boots and long gloves emphasized long, lean lines as well as warmth. Military touches included caps, double breasted coats and jackets and lots of metal and shine. A hint of Spring appeared in the white short coat and white feather/wispy short skirt. Fuschia, white, black and khaki colours were featured for all seasons and occasions. Contrasts were seen in the huge, wooly yet soft scarves, the military jacket with a soft, short skirt and a zipper down the front of a dress instead of up the back. Love the energy of this collection and would like to see a video to accompany it.
