Toronto Fashion Week 2018 - Day 2

Day 2 of Toronto Fashion Week! This year I only attended day 1 and day 2, so this will be the last of my fashion week recaps for this season. It was great to see day 2 as there were several designers whose shows I had attended in previous years (Hilary MacMillan 2013 and 2016 and Christopher Paunil at the Mercedes-Benz start-up finals); so fantastic to see how they have grown and matured as designers! All photos care of George Pimentel. Thanks again to NordströmMatte PR.

Hilary MacMillan

Hilary MacMillan is a contemporary, Canadian womenswear brand. The self-titled brand was founded in 2013, and focuses on providing a variety of styles at accessible price points. In 2016, Hilary made a commitment to no longer use leather, fur, exotic skins, or features on any of her garments, and will have phased out all silks and wools by SS'19.

What a fun collection, full of colorful vibrant prints and colors! Amazing statement pieces that can be worn together or separate, dressed up or down. As you can see from the photos, the models were confident and powerful in these looks. Spring is coming, and, already, we can't wait!

Tara Rivas

Tara launched her first collection in 2015, and hasn't stopped designing since! As mentioned in our Day 1 coverage, this collection was shown in a static format in a very animated room full of balloons, fun music, and amazing lots. It really gave you a feeling of what the garments would like like when out and about. Statement pieces that will no doubt be unique and will definitely grab your attention!

Christopher Paunil

Established in 2010, by Christopher Paunil (designer) and Chalo Hancock (business development), Christopher Paunil features both custom bridal wear and ready-to-wear designs for women. The design philosophy is "conscious design and meticulous production of high-quality wedding dresses and formal wear for the contemporary woman".

One of the things I most enjoyed about fashion week this year, was the use of digital screens at the entrance to the runway. This truly gave us the feeling of being in a completely different place than a runway show at Toronto Fashion Week, and really created a unique setting for these magnificent gowns!

I have really been working on bringing in vibrant colors like these into my wardrobe. Loved the use of color and shapes on these ready-to-wear looks, and of course the amazing final look! Thank you Christopher for brightening our day with these looks. Bravo!
