Sam Stringer: Designer, Photographer, Stylist Visits My Sister's Closet

I first met the fabulous Sam Stringer at her Grad Show: THE FINAL CUT, Kwantlen Polytechnic U.
She absolutely owned that runway with her Vesuvius Collection! She names her dresses after notable and accomplished women: Jeanette, Kristina, Norah, Amelia, Joan, Amanda, Diana, Gloria, Jacqueline, Georgia. Think Art, Flight, Fearlessness, Leadership and more. She brought her fiery Joan D'Arc Couture Gown to our little thrift shop at 1092 Seymour, where Volunteer Extraordinaire, Kayla, modelled it. There are many more women, here, who would wear this beauty, with pride and confidence! This gown, like all of her collections, is a "fierce design" rich, opulent and well crafted to fit and flatter. Her portfolio and brochures are coffee table treasures and JOAN is described here: "Digitally printed Crepe De Chine full length gown with bias pleated twist top bodice, centered back metal zipper. Boned internal boustier with separating zipper." The print for the VESUVIUS collection came from the work of local artist and photographer Jack Wass. Sam Stringer gathers friends around her, includes them in all that she does and credits, credits, credits. She organized The Exhibition: Clothing

Up Close by Emerging designers, at The Portside Pub, Gastown, and introduced us all to yet another evening of unbounded creativity. She will be showing at Vancouver Fashion Week, this Fall, so be sure not to miss her.

And what did she see at the Closet? Three of the most interesting dresses that were hidden in the racks. Drapes, jewels, swirls and those fiery colors. She left them behind, this time, as she is concentrating on her collection development. I want to buy it all. A customer who came in just after Sam left, said, "Oh, look at these; someone picked them just for me!" She bought them all.
Thanks Sam Stringer! See you at My Sister's Closet, again, soon. We will all be there for Vancouver Fashion Week, starring you!
