Takumi Hatakeyama "Scroll//Spiral" Fall 2009 RTW

Yesterday after seeing the Luxe By Plugin Show we went to see Takumi Hatakeyama. His show, entitled "Scroll//Spiral," was held in the beautiful Ometesando area. Rather than having a runway fashion show, Takumi chose to present his collection in an installation. He explained that he has been presenting his collections this way so that the press can get up close to his clothes and take pictures and feel the fabrics. The exhibit was in a small room on the third floor and featured dangling beads and flowers and beautiful dark wood floors. It will be open for the next two days for buyers, designers and press to view. It was packed when we went to see it! The clothes were made of thick fabrics and knits. Every piece had beautiful detailing and featured flowers and many had circular pieces with his name on them (see close up image below). The invitation that he sent out featured these patterns too! Many of the mannequins had beautiful tulle intricately wrapped around their feet and had beautiful neck pieces. They were placed in a circle around the room with a group of three mannequins placed in the center. They looked angelic and it was definitely magical being around the room. Everyone seemed to be in awe as they admired the pieces and felt the fabrics. These pieces were couture like but definitely wearable. They would definitely grab everyone's attention if they were worn at an event or party. It was a completely different experience seeing a collection in installation style but it was much more intimate and you could see the clothes in a much different way than if they were just passing by on a runway! It was a beautiful collection! Bravo Takumi!

A beautiful dress and neck piece!

Look at the attention to detail on this piece.
