Value Village Dress New and Imroved

Remember this dress? I bought it a while back at Value Village. I took it in for some alterations and...

TADA!!

I hope to take a sewing course one day because 30 dollars for hemming seems a little outrageous. Seeing as I only paid a few dollars for this Liz Claiborne, dress I figure it's worth it. It's great for summer and it even has pockets. It is also PLAID! You can do this too! Just don't be afraid to buy something because it needs altering. It will be unique and have a bit of you in it. I'd love to hear about your Value Village adventures and alterings :)

i am so lucky to have a sewing grandmother! hemming really is not that hard; it just takes awhile because it should be done by hand.

that certainly is a little salvaged treasure!

Love it! Looks great!

I bought this $5 halter muumuu type dress at Mintage a few months ago but the fabric was gorgeous. Think Dolce's paint splattered fabrics from spring. I had it tailored - had a waist put in and got it hemmed and taken in... Voila! A one of a kind dress... $80 later...

that looks great! I'm lucky to have a mother that sews for help with hems... I can sew myself but just don't have room for a machine in my teeny apartment...
